ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN)—In the last decade, a ceremony to place flags at the graves of veterans buried in Meadowlawn Memorial Park has grown dramatically.

On Friday, more than a dozen civic and veterans groups gathered at the cemetery off State Highway 27 in Enterprise. More than 1,500 flags were placed at veteran graves.

Two boy scouts who are fifth-graders at Rucker Boulevard in Enterprise say volunteering to place the flags is their patriotic duty.

Several of the organizers say placing the flags is an opportunity to teach patriotism to young people.
