LOCKHART, Ala. (WDHN) – Authorities in Covington County said a death investigation is underway after the discovery of a woman’s body in the southeastern part of the county.

The body of Dianna Rothgeb, 33, of Lockhart, was found off Still Pond Road on August 4, according to Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman.

Investigators continue to follow leads in the case, but Sheriff Turman said “this is an active investigation with many moving parts.”

The body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics for an autopsy to determine a cause of death.

“We ask that the public be patient as we find factual information in order to build a proper analysis and make any arrests,” Sheriff Turman said in a Facebook post.

Anyone with information about Rothgeb’s death is asked to call the Covington County Sheriff’s Office at 334-428-2641.
