BLAKELY, Ga. (WDHN) — When Blakely Police arrived to the scene on the 200 block of Palmetto Avenue late Tuesday morning, three men who suffered gunshot wounds were discovered.

According to investigators, two of the victims, Andre and Andrew Stapleton, were treated at the LifeBrite Emergency Room in Blakely and were released shortly after being treated.

The other victim, Damien Wims, was transferred to another hospital in Dothan where he remains. Reports say he sustained critical injuries.

Neighbors say that Blakely police were patrolling the area, as they normally do on Palmetto Avenue and as soon as the police left the area, that was when the gunshots were heard. Neighbors believe it wasn’t a drive-by shooting, but that the suspect knew who and where he was going.

Neighbors say the shooting on Tuesday struck a nerve and that they are now scared of future shootings.

Neighbors also tell WDHN that they have turned in a name of a possible suspect in this shooting.

This case is now being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

BLAKELY, Ga. (WDHN) — Two people are injured and one person is in serious condition after a drive-by shooting occurred in Blakely.

Tuesday morning around 11:30, Blakely police officers responded to Palmetto Ave for reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, it was learned that three individuals had received gunshot injuries. Two victims were treated at Lifebrite E.R. and released.

The third victim was transferred to another facility in serious condition.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia State Patrol, and Early County Sheriff’s Office was requested to assist in processing the crime scene.

No arrests have been made at this time, and law enforcement is continuing to interview individuals and follow various leads
