BLAKELY, Ga (WDHN) — Blakely Police Department trained this week at a local school to prepare in case of an active shooter scenario.

BPD was the host for the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (A.L.E.R.R.T.) at the Early County High School.

The program was created and developed to provide training to first responders in order to protect their communities and save lives from the unthinkable happening.

Lt. Kevin Naramore, a Blakely Police officer himself, was the lead in coordinating the training event.

The course, created by Texas State University, is promoted by the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
