BLAKELY, Ga. (WDHN) — Blakely police have arrested a man following a late-night shooting Tuesday.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., officers learned of a gunshot victim being treated at the LifeBrite Community Hospital. The victim had been shot in the back while she was in her car.
The victim then drove herself to the emergency room, all the while suffering from critical internal injuries from the gunshot. However, LifeBrite stabilized her and sent her to another hospital for further treatment.
In its investigation, the Blakely Police Department determined the shooting was domestic in nature and detained a person of interest at LifeBrite.
Officers learned the scene of the incident was probably North Avenue through interviews with potential witnesses.
Thanks to community cooperation, police arrested Broadies Brown, 26, of Blakely early Wednesday morning.
He was then taken to the Early County Jail on charges for Aggravated Assault-Family Violence, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Cruelty to children 2nd degree(2 counts), Battery- family violence. Additional charges are pending.
Blakely police are still investigating the situation and ask people in the North Avenue area to contact the department if they know anything.
