DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Looking for something to do this weekend, Dothan is gearing up for one of the biggest events during the pandemic, the circle city BMX competition.
Thursday morning kicked off weekend with a press conference featuring Visit Dothan, Leisure Services, and two BMX Olympians.
Boys and girls of all ages will be competing on the Westgate track and this will be the first time Olympians will have a race on their own.
Practices will begin early in the day on Friday and Saturday with races following after practices.
Two time BMX Olympian Connor Fields says he loves the features of the Dothan track.
“In comparison to other tracks around the country and the world, they have done a really good job out here,” Fields said. “Every little detail has been thought through and it’s gonna make for a great event and hopefully with some great racing.”
Fields says he’s glad the event is still on schedule here so it can help him get ready for the summer Olympics.
