BREAKING: Fire and rescue crews on scene of house fire near Hodgesville

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) – Numerous first responders are on the scene of a house fire in southern Houston County.

A source told WDHN a fire broke out just before 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Zachery Road, in the Hodgesville area, just north of County Road 33. Initial reports indicate the house was fully engulfed when the first fire units arrived.

The source also told us that lightning was spotted in the area and could have possibly caught the home on fire.

The home was vacant of people and animals.

Fire and rescue units from Hodgesville, Cottonwood, and Rehobeth are on the scene along with the Houston County Emergency Management Agency.

A WDHN reporter saw one ambulance leaving the scene.
