DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Dale County Sheriffs Office have identified the deceased woman found near Woodham Bridge in Newton, according to a press release.

Police located a woman’s body that appeared to be in the advanced stages of decomposition on June 3 in the woods off South CR-20 near Newton.

On Wednesday, through dental records the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences positively identified the deceased as Jenita Rose Maldonado, 29, of Montgomery.

“As of today, we finally identified that young lady,” Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson said. “Her name is Jenita Rose Maldonado and she is from Montgomery, Alabama. She has ties to Dothan as well as Donalsonville, Georgia as well into the Coffee County area. Her body was in such bad shape, we had to be able to identify her positively and just really we would want to how she got to exactly where she was at.”

Based on the investigation police do not believe foul play was involved.
