DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — City of Dothan employees now will be able to get their CDL licenses through Wallace Community College-Dothan.

The licensed training will take place at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center.

They will train on what is known as the pad, which is an open area at the WPSC.

The employees train five days for three weeks of hands-on training.

Each employee participating in this opportunity already has their permit and has completed their online entry-level driver training.

“It’s really about those individuals that the City of Dothan has hired,” Director of Workforce Development for Wallace-Dothan, Joe Johnson said. “They’re investing in them as employees to get their Class-A’s again, so they can be more productive obviously for the city and for themselves.”

Johnson says that this is a great opportunity for the college and the City of Dothan with meeting the business and industry with short-term training.
