GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A civil lawsuit has been filed against the 19-year-old son of Geneva County School Superintendent Becky Birdsong.
William Jackson Birdsong has already been charged with recklessly causing the death of a 70-year-old Holmes County woman by speeding in his pick-up truck and being under the influence of marijuana.
Police say he caused a multi-car crash last June on state highway 167 south of Hartford.
That crash also critically injured Tammy Lynn Robinson, who was left with traumatic brain injury, and now her daughter has filed a lawsuit against birdsong as well as against his mother, Becky Birdsong, and their commercial farm operation. Birdsong was hauling produce at the time.
He was 18 then and next month a judge is set to rule on whether he can be declared a youthful offender, and his criminal case “sealed” to the public.
