COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — In an Enterprise courtroom, a murder suspect is asking for his charges to be dropped.

Jamal Harper allegedly fatally shot 47-year-old Lawrence Davis Junior inside an Enterprise motel room during a reported drug deal.

Earlier this summer, District Attorney James Tarbox filed paperwork that his office plans to seek the death penalty if Harper is convicted of murder.

The trial is expected to get underway on October 30th.
