ENTERPRISE, Ala (WDHN)— An Enterprise murder suspect is back in the Coffee County Jail nearly four years after the crime occurred.

On Tuesday, November 14, Laquenton Sheridan was booked into the Coffee County Jail on one count of murder.

Sheridan is charged with the murder of 36-year-old Jason Taylor Montgomery, who was found shot to death at the Hidden Glen Apartments in February 2020. A court complaint states Sheridan shot at Montgomery at least five times before hitting him.

Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd says Sheridan was indicted on the murder charge in September 2021, but at the time of the indictment, the 41-year-old was in the Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Alabama, on unrelated charges. Once the indictments came down, a hold was put on Sheridan, and when he was released from Ventress, authorities transported him back to Coffee County.

Sheridan is being held on a $150,000 bond.
