ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — City of Enterprise Tourism and Community Relations Director Tammy Doerer recently achieved certification as a Traveling Marketing Professional.
Doerer was among 82 Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Marketing College graduates at the STS Connections Conference in Jackson, Mississippi last month.
“STS is enhancing the professional skills of tourism professionals throughout the Southeast,” said Monica Smith, President and CEO of STS. “Earning Travel Marketing Professional (TMP) certification is a combination of classroom work and special projects. Becoming a TMP takes dedication.”
STS was founded in 1983 and is a non-profit dedicated to promoting travel and tourism within 14 states, including Alabama.
Study topics include tourism advertising, vacation research, crisis management, special events marketing, media relations, heritage tourism, tourism sales and community/rural tourism. In addition to class work, students must complete assignments that relate to their employment.
“We are very proud of Tammy and her willingness to continue her education in the field of Tourism to better promote the City of Enterprise,” Mayor William E. Cooper said. “Tammy is an asset to the city, and we know she will put this certification and the lessons learned to good use.”
