ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The Enterprise Country Club suffered an extensive amount of damage but fortunately, there were no injuries as the severe weather chose a day when the country club is normally closed.

Cathy Brown, the President of the Enterprise Country Club, showed up to an unusual sight Monday morning.

Normally it’s a happy atmosphere with meetings and luncheons, but now it’s a disaster.

“I live kinda close by and when I looked across the lake coming in and saw this, it’s just so disheartening,” Brown says.

Tree debris and broken furniture were scattered across the fairways near the end of the course by the clubhouse considered as the 19th hole.

The strong winds took out the back awning of the clubhouse it damaged a cast iron pipe that is crucial for the club’s fire safety system.

“That’s why we want to make sure we had the electricians out, the city has been out here, Southeast Alabama gas, so we are trying to make sure we covered all the safety bases so we can get back in the building,” says Brown.

She says the club had many scheduled events this week like a Rotary Club Meeting, Easter Brunch, and a Celebration of Life.

Rotary has been canceled for Tuesday and the other events are in jeopardy of being canceled.

“We’ll look at that today and tomorrow and Morgan the club manager will take a look at making those decisions,” Brown says.

She says right now she’s not sure how much it will cost to repair the damages as they are waiting on their insurance to come out and take a look. Brown states that the golf course will be open before the clubhouse.
