ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Enterprise downtown merchants are calling the inaugural Sweet Tea Festival a successful event!

Besides attracting hundreds of folks to the festival site at the Enterprise Civic Center, downtown merchants reported a large influx of pedestrian traffic in the afternoon hours.

Many folks in the hot weather came downtown to shop in the store’s air conditioning. Chad Wester of Boll Weevil Soap Company even created ice tea body lotion and scented ice tea candles.

“The tourists have gone home, people aren’t holiday shopping yet so it was a huge economic shot in the arm. We saw people shop with us at the festival and then saw them in the afternoon and shop with us in the air conditioning,” says Wester.

With August traditionally being one of the slowest months of the year for retail, Wester says the annual Ice Tea Festival will bring new business to the City of Progress.
