Enterprise, Ala. (WDHN)— A tragedy on the highway marks the beginning of the Christmas Holiday period. At around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, a deadly two-vehicle crash in an Enterprise claimed the life of a young mother of two children.

On Friday morning, Enterprise police map out the accident scene on Highway 27 north, near Dixie Drive.

Authorities say Brittanie Ferguson, 32, of Ariton was driving her car when a Toyota 4-runner driving on the wrong side of the road of State Highway 27 collided “head-on”. The impact threw Ferguson from her vehicle. Ferguson was pronounced dead en route to the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota 4-runner was transported to the hospital for treatment, but those injuries are
reportedly not life-threatening.

Coffee County Coroner Robert Preachers says these tragedies take on even greater sadness around
the holidays. He urges drivers to drive defensively, and just be careful.

Ferguson leaves behind two young children. The Enterprise police traffic homicide unit continues to investigate.
