UPDATE:
PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — 33-year old Dustin Byrd of Goshen was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a police manhunt involving several agencies apprehended Byrd.
Byrd is charged with the murder of a female, who he admitted to shooting while driving on Henderson Highway.
After shooting the woman, police say he pushed her out of the moving vehicle.
Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident on Henderson Highway and found the woman lying in the roadway with head injuries.
The woman was then taken to Troy Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased,
Byrd’s White Infiniti was later found by deputies on Highway 93 between Banks and Brundidge, where Byrd was then taken into custody without incident
A large amount of blood was found in the white Infiniti, along with the weapon used in the shooting, a large amount of marijuana, Xanax bars, and oxycodone pills.
PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A murder suspect is currently in custody after an extensive manhunt through much of Pike County Tuesday.
Multiple agencies, including Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Pike County Sheriff’s Office, and Dale County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the manhunt. Dale County Sheriff’s also flew their Bell OH-58 Kiowa helicopter as air assistance in locating the wanted man.
Sources have told WDHN News the male was arrested by a Pike County Sheriff’s deputy on Highway 93 in Brundidge. The suspect was arrested at a roadblock authorities set up.
