DALEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — Daleville Public Safety officers and code enforcement have been documenting what some are calling “eyesores” throughout the city.
Daleville Mayor Jayme Stayton says he often hears residential and business concerns about abandoned, rundown buildings and homes.
Mayor Stayton says he along with the city council is doing as much as they can to get things
cleaned up, but it’s not an overnight process.
Many times, property owners have moved to other states, and the government has to go through a process to give landlords a stipulated amount of time to clean up, fix up, and paint up before a structure can be demolished.
Mayor Stayton says the city is working with its legal counsel to make sure all protocols are followed before removing a dilapidated building or taking some other action to clean up a public eyesore.
