DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Houston County Farm Center has an out-of-state buyer lined up and will likely be sold Friday, Dec. 24th.
At the Houston County Commission Meeting on Monday, the commission decided to move forward with a a bid from Florida-based company, Brightwork Realestate Acquisition.
County commissioners opened the bids on Monday after receiving some public outcry against it being a closed bid with Brightwork. Bids will still be accepted before Dec. 24, however, it is unlikely for Brightwork to be outbid.
The tentative approval of the sale of the Houston County Farm Center did receive around three county residents that disapproved of moving forward with the sale, however, the bid did proceed.
The Houston County Farm Center has been home to many events, concerts, and even hosted The National Peanut Festival for decades.
The exact plans for the farm center and the lot it sits on are unknown at this time.
