DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Both Dothan and Houston County have laid out their plans for a patriots’ day honoring and remembering the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

It’s set to be a time of remembrance for the nearly 4,000 lives taken in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Dothan and Houston County will feature a special tribute to those killed in New York City, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

“The 24 hours immediately leading up to the event we are going to have local first responders carry the American flag up and down the stairs in the Civic Center arena for a full 24 hours, in ten-minute shifts, just to pay homage to those that lost their lives in the tragic event,” Dothan Community Relations Officer, Vincent Vincent said.

On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Dothan Civic Center.

The public is welcome to come out and honor those who lost their lives on that infamous day.
