DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan Fire is investigating what caused a home near downtown Dothan to go up in flames on Saturday evening.

Dothan Fire, Dothan Police and Pilcher’s Ambulance responded to a fire on the 600 block of Catalpa Ave. just after 6:30 p.m.

Responders were able to quickly get it under control.

One person was inside the home and managed to escape.

The male occupant was not injured. Red cross is helping him find temporary shelter.

At this time the cause of the fire remains under investigation, more information is expected to be released Monday, according to Dothan Fire Batallion Chief Pete Webb.
