The Dothan community worked together to bring a celebration to the law enforcement officers of Dothan and the wiregrass community. A luncheon and program were held at the wiregrass public safety center facility for officers and their families.
“I think what it says to the local community is that our religious groups and our city, our churches, and a lot of our citizens that go to those churches appreciate law enforcement.” Dothan Police Chief Parrish said. “We appreciate the job that they’re doing, and support us, and that is very important in times like this.”
The program included speeches from District One City Commissioner Kevin Dorsey and County Sherriff Donald Valenza. There were multiple led prayers and plenty of time for officers to catch up with friends and colleagues.
“My favorite part is just interacting with the community and knowing that they do support us.” Dothan Police Captain Glover. “It’s just good to speak with them and for everybody to realize that we as police officers are humans just like everybody else.”
Even other aspects of public safety came out to celebrate the officers, including emergency medics and firemen. The Dothan police officers explained they are looking forward for what’s to come for the community.
