DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dothan man faces multiple charges after resisting arrest Thursday night.

According to the Dothan Police Department, officers responded to a call from a person on East Lafayette Street complaining about a family member destroying their property at around 9:10 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found the family member, Renzo Rashard Fanner of Dothan, and tried to take him into custody. While officers put him in handcuffs, the 45-year-old began resisting and attacked an officer, according to a police spokesperson.

Police say that before Fanner got to his relative’s residence, he threatened to harm them. They also said they were familiar with him and knew him to be violent.

He now faces charges for aggravated assault-gun/knife/other weapon, harassment of public official, and resisting arrest.
