Johnson is being held on a total bond of $1.47 million.
DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dothan man is facing criminal charges for possessing possibly thousands of child pornography images, according to Dothan police.
Lt. Scott Owens said the department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after a social media site told it about child porn being put online.
The IP addresses connected to the posts were obtained, leading police to the home of Jeremy Wayne Downes on Eastwood Drive. Officers arrested downs Monday morning and seized multiple laptops, cellphones, and SIM cards that were believed to contain the obscene material.
Owens said the evidence contained multiple images of children of various ages performing sex acts or in suggestive situations. The evidence is still being analyzed by a member of the Secret Service Task Force, but the number of images could be in the thousands.
So far, Downes faces one charge for dissemination/display of child pornography, but more are pending.
So far, no information is known that can confirm or deny a connection to Christopher Dwayne Johnson, another man reported by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in November for child pornography possession.
