DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Dothan Police Department officially has two new “paw-trol” officers ready to protect the Circle City.

Zekk and Asti, both Belgian Malinois from Hungary, just completed their nine-week canine handler training school and will begin their service in just a couple of days.

K-9 officer Zekk will be serving alongside his handler, Officer Mobley. Officer Strickland will handle K-9 officer Asti.

Trained to go beyond helping take down possible criminals in emergency situations, the two K-9s play a role in the department that goes beyond being man’s best friend.

They were brought in to help alongside in searches and investigations, these two paw-patrol officers will help protect the community with their best paw forward.
