Dothan police pay a visit to Boys and Girls Club

Local News

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Boys & Girls Club Wiregrass got a special visit from some of Dothan’s finest Wednesday afternoon.

Three officers from the Dothan Police Department stopped by to talk to kids about what it means to be a cop and why they shouldn’t be afraid of officers.

Several kids admitted to being a little scared of the police. That’s why officers spent nearly half an hour explaining what their jobs are and that they’re human just like the rest of us.

“It felt kind of good talking to like a real officer,” student Donte Wilson said. “All officers are not bad officers.”

“I heard them talk about their lives and how they can protect people,” student Derek Ford said.

The Dothan Police Department reminds kids and adults watching tonight that there’s no need to be afraid and that they are here to protect you and to help you.
