ELBA, Ala. (WDHN)—On Friday, we reported on Slocomb fire rescue raising around 11-thousand dollars in its annual memorial day weekend boot drive for equipment for its new pumper truck expected to arrive early next year.

In Elba, its fire department also had a successful fundraiser at Claxton Avenue and Troy Highway downtown, along with two other busy intersections.

Elba Fire Chief Drew Parker says the boot drive would raise several thousand dollars. The money is earmarked for equipment upgrades.

Chief Parker says it’s not just locals donating, but many folks heading through Elba to their beach destinations.

For those wishing to donate, you can go to the Elba Fire Department Facebook page for more information.
