Elba, Ala. (WDHN)—The Elba Volunteer Fire Department has only around 20 members, and they have been extra busy this month working nearly “around the clock.”
During July, firefighters have responded to two major structure fires including the chamber of commerce building.
They’ve also responded to a single-engine plane crash and several serious vehicle accidents.
Then, the department’s ATV was stolen, but fortunately, it was recovered and a suspect was arrested.
Elba Fire Chief Drew Parker says he doesn’t have an explanation for the recent “rash” of calls.
Chief Parker is waiting for the results of the state fire marshal’s investigation into the
chamber of commerce building fire; and a blaze that destroyed a house off Martin Luther King Avenue.
