DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN)— After an investigation, a 71-year-old Dothan man has been arrested and charged with rape.

Albert Smith III, of Dothan, has been arrested and charged with rape in the first degree. Smith is accused of having forced sexual contact with a victim without their consent.

On October 4, Dothan Police Department began an investigation into a rape allegation that occurred in a home on the 1000 block of Cabot Street.

According to DPD, during the investigation, sufficient evidence was found to charge Smith with rape in the first degree.

Smith’s bond is set at $60,000.
