DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Around 8:15 Tuesday night, Dothan Police responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car at the 2900 block of Campbellton Highway, south of Dothan.

An eyewitness told WDHN that a 79-year-old old woman was trying to corral her dog back into the house. The dog ran into the street and the woman then chased it.

According to another eyewitness, two cars swerved to miss the woman on the road but a third car hit the woman and her dog.

First responders said the woman is in critical condition but stable at Southeast Health. One eyewitness said the woman’s dog was killed.
