ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The boll weevil wasn’t the only pest in the City of Progress on Saturday, the Grinch was also in attendance at the Whoville Holiday Celebration.

About 15,000 people came to see what all the hoopla in downtown Enterprise was about.

The event featured pictures with the Grinch, Who hairstyling, local food and craft vendors, and even snow.

The president of the downtown association said this holiday event has quickly become the biggest event of the year for local small businesses.

“Whoville is absolutely, without question the biggest sales day downtown Enterprise has all year long,” President of the Downtown Business Association, Chad Wester said. “It is a fantastic day. There is no better way to shop local, between the local stores and the local businesses here, plus the over 100 local vendors. It’s a huge impact on the tax base, but it’s a huge impact on the family behind these small businesses.”

If you’ve ever wanted to try and beat the Grinch in a foot race, the next holiday event in Enterprise will be the Whoville 5K Run Saturday, Dec. 11, at 8 a.m.
