ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) —Enterprise police are wrapping up their investigation into an attempted murder-suicide on Thursday night.
At around 8 p.m., a woman who had been shot in the chest was able to call 9-1-1 a home on Coffee County Road 539.
Police say her husband Jessie Peters Jr., 51, used a pistol to shoot his wife before fatally turning the gun on himself.
Police say the shooting was the result of a domestic violence dispute. As of Friday evening, the woman is said to be in stable condition at an area hospital.
“Deceased male and female that was shot in the chest were husband and wife,” Enterprise Police Lieutenant Billy Haglund said. “Some sort of domestic dispute occurred in the residence. The male shot the female in the chest and then took his own life.”
WDHN has confirmed that police responded previously to a domestic call at the residence.
Lt. Haglund says no further information will be released on this case.
