DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A house caught fire on the 300 block of West Washington Street in Dothan around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Flames were shooting from the home when firefighters arrived on the scene.

A middle-aged man and his mother were in the home when the blaze began and were able to get out safely.

Black smoke continues to pour from the house and much of the home is damaged inside.

About a half dozen fire engines and at least a dozen firefighters responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Dothan police.

Firefighters say it took about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.
