UPDATE:

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — No one was injured in the vacant building fire on West Main Street on Monday afternoon, according to the Dothan Fire Department.

Deputy Dothan Fire Chief Chris Etheredge told WDHN that if anyone was inside the building at the time of the fire, they were able to escape without injuries.

Fire investigators are still trying to confirm the cause of the fire.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A fire on Main Street in Dothan has left an abandoned building covered in smoke.

The Dothan Fire Department responded to a fire shortly after 1:15 p.m. at a vacant building in the 200 block of West Main Street.

A homeless person may have been inside the building during the time of the fire, but Dothan Fire cannot confirm that a person has been found.

Investigators are arriving on the scene now to determine the cause of the fire.

The road is blocked near Alice Street to Oates Street.
