ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Former Enterprise State Community College President Matt Rodgers has died.

Rodgers retired from his position in early May. He had been battling colorectal cancer since 2021.

Rodgers was president of ESCC for over four years.

Enterprise State issued this statement in regards to his passing:

Matt Rodgers was a great administrator, leader, father, and friend. He led by example every day, and he was always ready to offer a hand to help or support those who needed it. He touched the lives of those around him, and his legacy at this College is one that will endure for years to come. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Matt Rodgers. We will keep his family in our prayers.”

Rodgers had over 28 years in education, including being principal of Enterprise High School before taking his role as president.

On Thursday, there will be a funeral visitation from 10 a.m. till noon a the First Baptist Church of Enterprise.

The funeral service will be held there at noon. A private burial for Rodgers will be held in the New Brockton city cemetery. Rodgers was a New Brockton native and graduated from high school there.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy, and his son, Liam.
