DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A tragic accident on Westgate Parkway Tuesday morning left a void in the hearts of many.

61-year-old Jerry Hutto, or to his friends just Hutto, was t-boned turning onto the 1500 block of Westgate Parkway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passengers of the other vehicle only received minor injuries.

He had worked at Dothan’s Honda dealership since 1998 and his coworkers had nothing but good words for their friend.

“He was as honest as the day was long,” Hutto’s friend John Farish said. “He treated other people the same way he wanted to be treated. Top-of-the-line guy”

“He was a very valuable asset to this dealership and to his family and I know he is gonna be missed,” Hutto’s friend Robert Parker said. “It is just very tragic. He was a super good guy.”

“He was always in a good mood. He was laughing and joking,” Office Manager of Jim Skinner Honda Christine Gokey said.

He leaves behind his 14-year-old daughter, Jada, 24-year-old son, Chance, and his former wife Kathy.

According to his brother, he was a great father who cared for his kids very much.

“He has done everything right by them. Great father. Wonderful father,” Hutto’s brother, Wesley Mckinney said.

His friends say his energy in and out of the workplace brightened everyone up and put a smile on people’s faces.

“He was a prankster and he kept everyone laughing around here,” said Parker.

“He would pull some jokes,” McKinney said. “When we were little we would wait in the hallway for 10 minutes and wait to jump out and scare you.”

His friends at Jim Skinner Honda want to leave his family with this message.

“We here at jim skinner would like to extend our condolences to the Hutto family and tell them he will leave a large hole in our dealership as well as our hearts. And if there is anyhting at all they need from us they know we are here for them as he was here for us,” Gokey said.
