Friends of Army Aviation taking people to the skies for National Armed Forces Day

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — This Saturday is National Armed Forces Day, and to celebrate, the Friends of Army Aviation partnered with Troy University to give people a chance to experience what flying in a helicopter is like.

“National Armed Forces Day is a recognition day set aside to recognize the active duty members of our armed forces that serve our nation both within our country and also in foreign countries,” said John “Doc” Holiday, president of the Friends of Army Aviation.

On Saturday, the community will have a chance to fly in a helicopter and soar through the Wiregrass.

“We encourage folks from the Wiregrass to come out and participate and celebrate Armed Forces Day and give those active duty members the recognition they deserve for keeping our freedoms where they are today and allowing us to do what we do,” Holiday said.

“If it was not for our armed forces, we would not enjoy the freedom that we have today,” he added.

If you want to show your love for our armed forces and veterans, make it out to Troy University’s Dothan campus this Saturday.
