GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A Geneva County man has died after being severely burned in a Thursday night fire.

The man has been identified as William Halstead.

Halstead’s girlfriend who uses a wheelchair was able to escape the home.

This case is still under investigation by the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office and the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office, as they try to determine the cause of this fatal fire.

GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A Geneva County man has been life-flighted to Mobile after being severely burned in a nighttime fire.

Emergency officials responded to a fire around 6 p.m. Thursday on the rural portion of County Road 67 between Hartford and the town of Black.

After arriving, they found a woman who had escaped the fire, and a man who was severely burned, according to officials close to the investigation.

The unnamed man was then taken by helicopter to the University of South Alabama-Burn Center in Mobile.

The cause of the fire is still being determined by the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office.
