GENEVA, Ala (WDHN) — Geneva Police have arrested a woman who they say is behind multiple check fraud scams across South Alabama.

On Friday, April 28, Geneva Police were called to a local business on reports of a woman attempting to cash a fraudulent check.

According to Geneva Police, when officers arrived, they found Amanda Wilkins inside the business and quickly identified her as a suspect in several cases involving fraudulent checks.

Wilkins was arrested and charged with felony possessing a forged instrument in the third degree and felony obstruction of justice by a false identity.

Chief Pepper Mock says Wilkins has several other charges pending with the Geneva Police Department. It is believed she is responsible for cashing forged checks across multiple jurisdictions, even as far as Brewton and Prattville, according to Mock.

Chief Mock encourages anyone who believes they are a victim of Wilkins’s alleged fraud to come forward and contact your local law enforcement agency.
