SAMSON, Ala. (WDHN)—Funeral arrangements have now been completed for the Samson Middle School student killed in an ATV accident over the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, J.P. Howerton, the 13-year-old son of Slocomb Police Chief Scott Howerton, was killed when the ATV he was driving rolled over him in Kinston.

At 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, visitation will be held at Samson First Baptist church. The funeral will follow at three o’clock at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery on Highway 52 west of Samson.

Hartford Police Chief Annie Ward says her officers will also patrol Slocomb during the funeral. In that way, Chief Ward says it’ll allow Slocomb police the opportunity to attend the service.

In addition, several other law enforcement agencies plan to help Slocomb during this tragic time for the Howerton family.
