ALABAMA (WDHN)—With the American economy bouncing back after the COVID-19 pandemic, the country is going through what many call the “Great Resignation”, with people in high numbers quitting their jobs.

According to new statistics from WalletHub.Com, many states in the Southeast rank among the top 20 states with the highest percent of people resigning:

  • Georgia is number one in the country for resignation rates, with 4.8% in the past month, and 3.98% in the past 12 months. Georgia has an overall state unemployment rate of 2.8% for the month of August.

  • Tennessee ranked number three for resignation rates in the country, with 4.3% over the past month, and 3.4% over the past 12 months. Tennessee has an overall unemployment rate of 3.4% for August.

  • Louisiana was ranked number ten, with an exact 4% in resignation rate over the past month, and 3.37% over the past 12 months. Louisiana has a state unemployment rate of 3.5% for the month of August.

  • Florida ranked among the best of the Southeastern states, but it’s rate is still among the worst at number 17 with resignation rates of 3.6% in the past month and 3.36% over the past 12 months. Florida has an overall unemployment rate of 2.7%.
