GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — Recently, land clearing got underway for the construction of a soccer complex in the City of Two Rivers.

Recently, the Geneva City Council gave the go-ahead for the long-anticipated project to be constructed at C.D. Chapman Memorial Park near Mulkey Elementary School.

Mayor David Hayes says he has long heard complaints from families about not having organized youth soccer games.

One city official says the city’s focus financially for the next few years should be on a planned downtown park, the soccer complex, and resurfacing roads.

Once completed, Geneva city officials expect the soccer fields to be widely used by young people in the wiregrass and the central Panhandle.
