ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) — Beginning later Monday night, an Elba church will bring back a tradition that hasn’t taken place in nearly 40 years.

Beginning Monday night and running through Saturday evening, the Harris Temple Church of God is planning a tent revival. Church elders’ say they haven’t held such an event since the early-1980’s, but feel this period with COVID that people of faith are looking for divine inspiration in getting them through the pandemic.

Social distancing will be in place and all are invited to sit under the tent, or park in an open field across from the church. Loud speakers will be in place for folks to listen to the service in their vehicles.

“Throughout this pandemic we are here for you,” Pastor Dallas Louckett of Harris Temple Church of God said. “And that’s the purpose for this revival to pour back in the lives of the people in this community.”

Over the coming week, the revival will take place at Harris Temple on Adams street in Elba. It begins at 7 p.m. each night through Saturday.
