COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — In a Coffee County courtroom Monday, a hearing for a man charged with the murder of an Enterprise High School ninth-grader has been delayed.
Last November, Deandrea Flowers was accused of shooting into an occupied vehicle in Enterprise. 15-year-old Myquel Smith was fatally struck during the shooting.
Authorities have not released a motive for the killing, but defense and prosecution attorneys in the case now have until February 8 to prepare for the hearing.
At the time of his death, Smith was considered by Enterprise High teachers and coaches as a gifted student and athlete.
Flowers is being held without bond in the Coffee County Jail on a capital murder charge.
