HENRY COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) – Another school system in the Wiregrass decided Monday to drop its mask requirement.

The Henry County Board of Education said beginning Tuesday, students and staff will no longer be required to wear masks inside its school buildings.

“We still strongly encourage our students and staff to wear face coverings,” a post on the district’s Facebook page said.

According to recent data provided on the Alabama Department of Public Health K-12 dashboard, Henry County recorded only six positive cases of students and staff in the entire system last week.

The Henry County Board of Education said it planned to reassess COVID-19 cases in coming weeks and may make adjustments, as needed, on a school-by-school basis.
