WIREGRASS (WDHN) — With gas prices slowly going down around the Wiregrass, here’s the latest before traveling this holiday weekend.

The national average price of gas is now at $3.80 a gallon (regular unleaded) — down 38 cents from the previous month.

The average American family is spending around $57 each time they fill up the gas tank; last year the cost was around $48. The Alabama state average is $3.41 a gallon, which is 36 cents less than last month.

With Labor Day weekend around the corner, here is the latest on the gas prices around the Wiregrass.

According to AAA, Geneva County is the highest at $3.51-a-gallon on average, Coffee County is the lowest at $3.40-a-gallon on average. Houston County currently sits at $3.43 a gallon.
