HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — One county in the Wiregrass has completed all of its planned road projects for the year 2021.

Through the Rebuild Alabama Act, the Houston County Commissioners were able to resurface 12 roads making the drive smoother for people in the county. County Road 8 in Pansey and North County Road 75 in Ashford are currently being worked on with these funds.

According to Commissioner for District 2, Doug Sinquefield for Houston County, the cost to repave each road is different could cost the county anywhere between $500,000 to $1.5 dollars to repave a county road.

“It’s making the county a lot better logistically,” Sinquefield said. “Better roads, safer roads for the public.”

The county has used up to $10 million of the Rebuild Alabama funds.

Sinquefield said they’ll get the full Rebuild Alabama report from the Director of Houston County Roads and bridges on Monday the commission will also learn which roads will be fixed up next.
