DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Iris Gray, the sister of Samuel Jeffery Gray, can breathe a sigh of relief now after she believes police have arrested all parties connected with her brother’s murder last November.
“I was worried that with this being the way that it happened that it was going to go unsolved and we wouldn’t be able to bring anyone to the surface because I had a thousand people telling me a thousand stories,” She said.
Police have arrested two in the murder of Samuel Gray — Kevone Devontay Smith who turned himself in about a month after the murder and now the latest arrest Mia Aaliyah Creech.
“Now that everything is where it is I really do have some sense of peace,” Creech said.
That was not the case on November 9th when Gray learned from law enforcement that her brother was shot and killed on miles lane and left lying in the middle of the road.
“I know that my brother wasn’t perfect but he did not deserve to be shot and left in the middle of the road as if he was a deer on the side of the road,” She said.
She said she doesn’t have the facts as to what transpired leading up to this tragedy.
“But I do know the facts that are there it’s enough for everyone who has been arrested it is what it is,” She added.
As tears roll down her face, she says her brother was her protector for her and her children.
She’ll miss how goofy he was and the laughs they shared and the hidden factors that made him unique
“He was strong and bold, and very smart I love my brother,” Gray added.
Gray said it has been hard to not let her heart turn into anger but she wants those arrested held accountable.
