HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — Two Dothan men are awaiting extradition back to Alabama after deputies say they were arrested in northern Florida where they fled following an early morning shootout in Houston County.

At around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, Houston County Sheriff’s Deputies and Dothan Police responded to a shooting at the West Cook Road and Shepard Road intersection involving two victims.

According to Major Bill Rafferty with the HCSO, the two victims were shot while attempting to investigate an altercation that occurred at one of their homes nearby, and when the victims drove down to the intersection, the suspects, identified as 23-year-old Tyshaun Griggs and 35-year-old Calvin McGlown, opened fire on the car.

Both victims were hit and transported to Southeast Health with what Major Rafferty believes were non-life-threatening injuries.

Approximately 35 shell casings were found at the scene.

During a Friday press conference, Major Rafferty revealed that on the morning of Thursday, October 19, HCSO investigators discovered leads that led to believe Griggs and McGlown had fled to Leon County, Florida.

Major Rafferty says while investigators were corresponding with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Florida deputies arrested McGlown and found that Griggs was being treated in a Leon County hospital for a gunshot wound he sustained during the shooting.

Griggs and McGlown are being held in Leon County and will be extradited back to Alabama to face two counts of Attempted Murder, both with a $60,000 bond.
