DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Dothan City Commission approved funds for an emergency road project.
The city of Dothan has been working on a project on Murphy Mill Road and Highway 231.
During construction on westside they discovered a sewer problem on the eastside of the highway.
Officials decided to fix the problem now so no further problems presented itself.
The project is estimated to cost just over $600,000 and the city will use the fund balance.
“When you are having a sewer line that is collapsing or failing,” Dothan Utilities Director, Billy Mayes said. “We solve that problem so we are not going to have the dirt collapse or the area around it, the roadway around it, collapse.”
Mayes says by doing this construction now, it makes protects citizens and makes the area safer.
